Main responsibilities
Policy documents Draft and check advanced policy documents for new and existing strategic clients for Group Risk as well as clients with tailor made products Maintenance of master documents Liaise with the legal team and product owners to finalise policy documents Analyze and investigate relevant information to ensure accurate policy documents Timeously attend to enquiries relating to policy documents and amendments Ensure that all non-standard deviations from the standard documents have been approved by the Product Owner, applicable Risk Consultant and Legal
Client education and visits Draft communication to clients explaining the terms and conditions of the accompanying policy contract Conduct client visits to explain the underwriting terms and conditions in the Policy Assist the client in understanding the clauses in the Policy, i.e. the meaning of it and how it fits together
People management Assist consultants/drafters with queries Up skill team members by arranging for training as well as drafting learning material for workshops Monitor the levels of competency in the department and take the necessary steps to facilitate workshops to improve competency when necessary Regularly review processes within the team and implement enhancements/ improvements when needed Keep abreast with relevant changes in the industry and feedback to team
General Assist product owners with enhancing existing products when requested Be part of management decisions and take full responsibility for decisions taken What will make you successful in this role? Extensive product knowledge and a broad understanding of the Group Risk and / or Employee Benefits environment The ability to incorporate sound written legal opinions within the written contract Qualification Matric / Grade 12 with good grades in languages 15 years’ experience in a contracts drafting environment of which 5 years should have been in a senior position Fluent in English and Afrikaans (verbal and written) A legal qualification relating to Company Law will be an advantage Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) Personal qualities Build collaborative relationships internally and externally Ability to create and enhance an atmosphere of learning and delivering in the department Conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent planning and organizational skills Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines Results-driven Ability to work independently and use initiative Well managed time/work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Build a successful career with us
