ROLE PURPOSE
Responsible for drafting and reviewing of contracts, legal research and all other related matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS
Drafting, vetting and reviewing of agreements on the contract management system
Drafting of legal opinions
Conduct research on various adhoc legal issues, queries, opinions etc
Assisting legal manager with complaints and enquiries from the regulatory authorities as well coordination of the gathering of relevant information in order to assist in the preparation of the aforesaid responses
Assisting the legal manager in respect of gathering and collation of comments to new and existing legislation
Assisting the legal manager in the drafting of various internal legal reports
Consideration of recording and circulation of legal opinions obtained from external legal firms
Distilling new legislative requirements and effectively and practically translating the impact of these requirements on business operations, processes and practices
Assisting in the drafting and submission of notifications to the FSB in respect of New cell inceptions, etc
Maintaining and manage positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Implementing legal requirements through internal check-lists relating to the controls for legal risks
Assisting with the gathering and compilation of information required relating to any regulatory inspections or visits
Assisting with maintaining Guardrisk licensing requirements
Assisting with review of internal policies ies. outsourcing, binder cancellation etc
Providing the legal division with general ad hoc support as and when required
Responsible for project management in respect of new projects such as implementation of new legislation into new and existing agreements and template agreements, assistance to business in respect of the implementation of such new legislation into the various business areas

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Admitted attorney with 3 – 5 years post article experience
At least 2- 4 years insurance law and financial services industry experience
Excellent writing and drafting skills
Training and presentation skills
Proficiency in word, excel, powerpoint presentations
Project management skills would be beneficial

The above-mentioned position is currently available in the GRLC department at our Guardrisk business unit based at our office in Sandton.
