Excellent growth opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join an expanding and dynamic accounting and taxation firm in Durbanville. The firm has offices both in South Africa and the UK and due to rapid expansion in the SA market, a need for a senior accountant arose. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious candidate with a long-term view.

The ideal candidate will be from an accounting practice background and will be able to manage a portfolio of small business clients. They are looking for ethically sound candidates, wanting to perform tasks the right way the first time around.

Duties:

The senior accountant will report to the director and his duties include, but are not limited to the below:

Manage a portfolio of clients.
Perform monthly bookkeeping, management accounts and payroll for clients.
Writing up of more complex accounting records for clients on Xero, Pastel and inhouse custom accounting software.
Performing key reconciliations as required for clients.
Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements (IFRS and IFRS for SME’s).
Responsible for calculating VAT, PAYE and other necessary SARS requirements on a monthly basis.
Responsible for budgeting and meeting set targets for the department as a whole.
Reviewing work done by supervised staff before director review, where applicable.
Issuing billings relating to work performed.
Meeting the minimum billings hours as per the company standards.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Manage and supervise staff to achieve set goals when necessary.
Provide daily assistance, guidance and training with regards to bookkeeping, payroll, related taxes, and SARS submissions.

Requirements:

B Com Accounting or equivalent degree.
SAICA or SAIPA articles preferred.
CA(SA), PA(SA) or AGA(SA) designation will be a distinct advantage.
0 – 5 years of post-articles experience.
Experienced in an Accounting Practice environment.
Excellent Afrikaans & English communication skills.
Own transport.
