Assisting with sample receipt, administration and tracking samples;
Performing DNA extraction from clinical samples as well as cultures;
Library preparation for next-generation sequencing;
Phenotypic drug susceptibility testing in micro-titre plates;
Working closely with a clinical trial team and communicating results clearly and concisely.

National Diploma in Medical Technology or Biomedical Technology or Bachelor of Health Sciences;
Proof of HPCSA registration as a medical technician;
Able to travel between Tygerberg Campus and MRC;
Experience in molecular techniques and WGS (added advantage);
Good communication skills, collaborative and multidisciplinary interests;
Excellent verbal and written knowledge of English;
Experience in working with M. tuberculosis;
Trained to work in a BSL3 facility.

A Master’s degree.
