An opportunity exist at a well-known company that specializes in Bacon, Viennas, Russians, Polony, Sausages, Marinated Ribs, Ham and Fresh products for a Logistics Supervisor.
The purpose of the role is to supervise all logistical activities at the company. The role will report to the General Manager of the plant.
The individual will be responsible for the effective and efficient movement of the companies products to coastal customers. He/ She will supervise a dispatch team and ensure invoicing, stock controlling, order picking, and vehicle loading happens according to industry standards and customer requirements.
A good understanding of the value chain is essential. The individual must comprehend the direct links between different departments and how to mitigate certain issues or bottlenecks before or as they occur.
Candidate must meet the following requirement:
1. Qualification:
Bcom Logistics or Supply Chain Management degree
Postgraduate qualifications are highly advantageous
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a similar environment
2. Experience/knowledge required:
Ability to communicate in English (verbally and in written)
Computer literate – MS Office
Good understanding of ERP systems
Flexible in terms of working hours (overtime and weekend work when required)
Good understanding of logistical principles and best practises
Good understanding of transportation costs
Excellent communication skills

Ability to work efficiently, on own or as part of a team, in a highly pressurised environment

Ability to lead and manage a team of dispatch clerks
Capable of forming and maintaining key relationships with departments and third parties
4. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinate the movement of shipments between logistic service providers, Heidelberg Plant, and various other locations
Plan and make necessary bookings of trucks to accommodate customer demand
Manage stock levels within warehouse
Plan primary distribution deliveries
Ensure that all administrative tasks are completed within the prescribed timeframe on Meat Matrix (ERP System)
Compile reports for the Logistics Manager and GM as and when required
Comply with health and safety regulations as well as PPE rules and regulations
Maintain good housekeeping in accordance with prescribed policy.
Collaborate with sales, production, and Heidelberg plant to ensure the distribution of stock happens on time, every time.
Place orders with Heidelberg and HPP to ensure stock levels to service customers
Quality control and ensuring certain batches comply with export requirements
