Chester Wholesale Ltd imports a variety of beef, mutton, pork, poultry, and vegetables from South America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Denmark, China and Belgium. The company operates its own clearing and forwarding department (and imports on average 120 containers, over 3000 tons per month).
Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Graphic Design Intern in the Durban Region. This position will suit a recent graduate or junior graphic designer who would like to gain experience in a fast-paced working environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to assist with design requests as and when needed, but who is also capable of supporting the department with other requests and needs.
The candidate should possess the ability to work in an effective manner, displaying a high level of efficiency, consistency, and accuracy in their methods. The operating hours for the role are Mon-Fri, 07:00 to 17:00.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the department with various design needs which range from group requirements to store level;
Work with a range of design requests using design software to assist with promotional material, point of sale, month-end promotions, posters, leaflets, corporate requirements, and corporate identity needs;
Work with suppliers and vendors regarding signage or design requirements;
Design ad hoc requirements as needed by the company;
Photographing and photoshopping of images for internal image library;
Prepare rough drafts and ideas for new projects and initiatives;
Work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer/Marketing Manager to assist with the workload as and when needed;
Conceptualize new ideas with concepts, graphics, and layouts;
Complete administrative tasks as needed;
Assist the marketing department with other marketing-related requests and events as and when needed;
Visit stores to conduct audits and provide feedback on use of POS, signage, and display.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric certificate or equivalent NQF level.
Relevant graphic design qualification.
Previous exposure to, or experience in a retail environment (advantage)
Computer literate.
Proficient in all design software.
Valid driver’s license (manual vehicle).
