The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the overall appearance of the company’s hotel rooms, ensuring the highest standards of maintenance and cleanliness is consistent in the hotel rooms at all times. Required to effectively lead, motivate and manage the housekeeping team. This includes the recruitment, training and performance management of the housekeeping team.
The Housekeeping Manager is also responsible for the strict control and purchasing of all hotel stock within the departmental budgets. Responsible for planning, organizing, and developing of the overall operation of the housekeeping department in accordance with company standards and guidelines. Ensure guests’ needs are being met along with the company’s core values.
Duties:
Develop Housekeeping policies, procedures, and checklists
Print daily reports and plan room and duty delegation
Assign daily duties to the Supervisor, Storekeeper and Room Attendants
Determine and maintain the department work schedule. Draw up duty rosters and ensure that scheduled staff levels are correct in order to maintain agreed standards of service and product offerings.
Schedule and update and monitor working hours of the Housekeeping team on ERS
Issue Mini Bar seals and Mini Bar stock and snack hampers to Porters
Ensure that adequate supplies of cleaning materials are available
Ensure an adequate supply of clean linen is always available
Ensure that all equipment used is operated correctly by trained employees and returned to its correct storage place in good working order after use
Ensure regular stocktaking of all Hotel items, including but not limited to linen and operating equipment
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure exceptional pricing saving costs but maintaining quality
Maintain accurate, clear detailed stock take and report deficiencies in a timely manner
Ensure that all work areas are clean, safe and well organized
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment arrange for repair or replacement if necessary
Safekeeping and record-keeping of items left behind by clients
Establish a motivated team focused on the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Conduct regular performance appraisals, identify areas for development and training, and ensure that this training is carried out
Hold regular on-the-job training and coaching sessions to ensure that staff can perform their duties correctly and increase their skills
Ensure that Room Attendants check daily for any maintenance issues and that anything reported is immediately
Investigate Complaints and compile response with feedback
Communicate positive & negative feedback with employees
Manage accurate counts of linen to and from laundry, report damages, and shortages
Check invoices from laundry for month-end processing
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in all aspects of Housekeeping in a 4 or 5-star environment required, with at least 3 years Management experience is essential.
Hotel School Management Diploma
Must be able to work irregular hours, on weekends and public holidays
