A number of new community projects demands the services of a SOCIAL / COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION CONSULTANTto liaise with local communities and travel between Newcastle, Durban, Richards Bay and Johannesburg.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE;
Overall stakeholder engagement and social facilitation for projects under planning and or under construction.
Community participation and governance in all phases of the project (Social).
Community awareness programmes.
To ensure involvement of local communities in all phases of the project cycle.
Lead in selection of Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
Training of Project Steering Committee (PSC) members.
Project awareness, PSC skills development, Employment strategy, Risk awareness.
Project presentation, Land ownership, Crop compensation, Labour recruitment, site meetings.
Healthy & Safety Meetings
PSC Meetings
Liaison with contractors
Dispute resolution
Reporting
Hands-on-monitoring
Payroll supervising
Meeting with the employer’s agent
Disseminating of information to Community from IDP
REQUIREMENTS;
BA in Social Science
Community development and/or Development Studies
Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in a similar role.
Expected to travel between Newcastle, Durban, Richards Bay and Johannesburg
Drivers licence with own vehicle
Entrepreneurial spirit, and demonstrated ability to work in an independent manner and honesty
Based in Johannesburg OR Newcastle.
Available to start immediately.
Contract position (1-year fixed-term contract)
