Northcliff, Randburg
R15 000 – R25 000 per month depending on experience

This role will require the Ophthalmic Assistant to work closely and assist the Ophthalmologist with obtaining medical records and perform preliminary eye function testing. Previous experience is required.

Ideally you should be an empathetic and professional individual with good English communication skills and ability to understand Afrikaans.

Clinical:

Patient management
Patient history & VA’s
Appropriate tests/imaging such as OCT, Colour Montages, Glaucoma testing, NFLA & visual fields.
Preparation for procedures (Consent, motivations, videos etc.)
Assisting with procedures – Injections, Laser procedures
Patient queries and follow ups
Rooms set up and cleaning
Hygiene & Sterility
Prepping Sterile packs
Washing and Autoclaving of packs
Cataract surgery list & preparations
Consent, information (Working with reception staff)
Post-op follow-up & information
(Biometry)

Rooms:

Medication stock control
Readers/Solar shields orders
Emergency trolley
Stock expiry dates
Equipment service dates
Emergency protocols
Medical emergency
Answering the phone when needed
Assisting with bookings or patient queries
Assistance with admin duties when needed
