Requirements:
Matric compulsory
Culinary school diploma/degree
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
Previous hospital environment experience is advantageous
Work overtime when required
Key Outputs:
Ensuring that the meals prepared meet the quality, presentation, consistency and taste requirements as set out by the Manager
Cost controlling by using leftovers, no over production, making convenience item to save cost
Ensuring issues are correct according to the standard recipes
Maintaining hygiene of workstations and the kitchen
Ensuring that patient meals are prepared timeously
Ensuring that meals for functions are prepared timeously
Thorough knowledge of cookery terminology and correct preparation methods
Knowledge of special dietary needs as well as cultural requirements and constraints e.g. Kosher, Halaal
Assist the Assistant Catering Manager with menus, to be innovative and creative
Assist with service and correct presentation of meals
To use scale, to weigh out ingredients to be used, to prepare ingredients and cook them correctly. Ability to keep preparation area clean and tidy at all times
Strictly adhering to all policies and procedures relating to this job description including those within the Company
