Job description – Financial and Stock Controller
Ground 2 Tap is a water treatment consultancy in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. We design, build, and install bespoke water treatment systems for commercial and residential premises alike. We pride ourselves on the professional delivery of our service & our water quality. Our products are designed to last, and we apply typical engineering principles in the process of designing, building, and installing our water treatment systems. With the increasing scarcity of water in the Western Cape and country in general, we anticipate growing interest in our services for many years to come.
You will be reporting to the director of the company. As Financial and Stock Controller, you will need a good accounting knowledge, be detail oriented, and be able to conduct yourself professionally in conversation with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Financial controller:
Managing Xero online accounting platform – reconciling invoices to bank statements and coding expenses.
Uploading new expenses to banking platform for authorisation.
Checking supplier invoices are correct.
Evaluating vendors and suppliers’ offers and negotiating profitable purchase prices.
Stock controller:
- Placing and receiving orders to replenish stock as needed.
- Tracking shipments and coordinating internal stock transfers, as well as resolving delays.
- Performing regular inventory audits.
- Tracking & managing stock returns.
Key Requirements
- Superb negotiation, collaboration, and communication abilities.
- Proficient in account software (Xero, Dext)
- Time management & administrative skills – Ability to work on several projects at a time, keen eye for detail.
- Ability to operate & think independently.
- Eager to learn & intuitively understand technical process.
- Experience in working with CRM systems.
- In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Great analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a stock controller in a similar industry.
