Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing multiple repair and maintenance tasks throughout the day, which could include, but is not limited to: carpentry work; plumbing; painting; HVAC; flooring; outdoor landscaping and general facility repairs.
SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS: Attention to detail and be able to prioritize according to urgency. Ability to work independently. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. Experience in many aspects of repair & maintenance work Dependability Verbal communication Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Five or more year’s handyman or related experience. Knowledge of cleaning solutions, chemicals and materials Able to work overtime and/or other shifts Must be a team player and treat co-workers with respect Regular and reliable attendance is expected
Duties & Responsibilities
Carpentry & General Construction: woodwork, sanding, painting, etc. Erect scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. To be current in all safety training requirements. Adhere to standard operating procedures, safety and HACCP rules and regulations. General Plumbing: Toilets, faucets, fix leaks, blocked drains, etc. Facility Repairs: doors, doorknobs, locks, broken tiles, flooring works, staining, etc. Outdoors: landscaping and sidewalks and driveways, etc. Workshop (housekeeping.) ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to dust, noise, and temperature changes. Exposure to working at heights and confined spaces. Exposure to cleaning solutions, chemicals and liquids.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Manual handiness, overall coordination and good balance are required. Ability to stand, walk and move rapidly for a nine (9) hour work shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding etc. Ability to perform repetitious arm and wrist movements. Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Ability to work other shifts and/or overtime. Ability to learn new tasks and procedures. Ability to move furniture and equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Matric At least 4 years’ hands-on building and site (Facilities) maintenance experience.
