Providing administrative coordination of the Ukwanda MBChB programme, including all components (both rotational and longitudinal models), across the Rural Clinical School hubs;
Supporting the Ukwanda MBChB academic programme coordination;
Arranging examinations, including face-to-face and distance assessments, coordinating with specialists in Tygerberg, Worcester and Upington, collating marks, etc.;
Drawing up students’ timetables for all components of the programme and ensuring that students and relevant staff are informed and kept updated with regard to schedules;
Arranging and taking minutes of meetings related to the MBChB programme;
Arranging regular tutorials for students as required by the programme;
Providing administrative support to the RCS students, including directing students to relevant resource people, such as for psychosocial support;
Assisting with planning and arranging collaborative care related to the RCS students;
Liaising with SUNLOC regarding logistics issues that affect students at the various RCS sites;
Providing support to academic staff and clinical supervisors involved in the Ukwanda MBChB programme;
Ensuring continuing communication between the RCS MBChB programme and the FMHS, Tygerberg campus, and ensuring relevant information is relayed to students and staff;
Obtaining regular feedback from students;
Managing and facilitating the recruitment of prospective RCS students, including all relevant pre-intake events related to the RCS;
Any other appropriate duties that may be delegated by the Director, Ukwanda Centre for Rural Health from time-to-time.

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification;
Five years’ experience in administration in a higher education institution;
High-level organising, planning, prioritising and administrative skills;
Passion for rural health and education;
Commitment to student wellbeing, patience, attention to detail, ability to collaborate well with colleagues and work in teams;
Innovation;
Computer proficiency with regard to the MS Office suite, with specific skills in report writing, data extraction and processing, and electronic presentations;
Exceptional communication skills in both Afrikaans and English to serve the local population;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Passion for developing youth;
Intercultural communication skills;
Sensitivity for the diverse learning needs of different students and the personality skills to manage these with the necessary empathy;
A team player who takes initiative;
A valid driver’s licence.

A postgraduate qualification in administration/management;
Ability to communicate in isiXhosa;
Experience in the health professions education sector.
