Minimum requirements for the role:
Previous experience having worked within the laboratory medicine industry (pathology) is essential.
Ability to communicate in any additional South African language (in addition to English and Afrikaans) would be advantageous.
The successful candidate must have the ability to delegate tasks not only to subordinates but also to peers such as formal associations, portfolio and sub committees with membership from member companies or consultants.
Must be able to work closely with government personnel, statutory bodies, related trade and professional associations pertaining to the business of the medical device industry in general.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Advising and assisting individual members or companies where possible within the scope of the responsibilities of the association.
Maintaining the database of records of important documents relevant to the association.
Maintaining member and stakeholder databases.
Ensuring an effective communication network, portfolio committee structures and calendar for meetings to support the delivery of objectives.
Managing regular dissemination of key information for members through the association website and other means of communication.
Ensuring effective external communication and PR with government, political players and international organisations relevant to the industry.
Developing position statements, key messages, strategy and effectively communicating these.
Ensuring effective media liaison and coverage when necessary by issuing approved press releases.
Managing queries on the medical device code and recommending appropriate action.
Managing the collaboration with other trade associations on pro-active encouragement and implementation of the marketing code.
Coordinating training workshops regarding the marketing code for members and other role players.
Ensuring that legislative action is reviewed timeously, and comments are submitted expeditiously to government.
Documenting the meeting minutes of all meetings held by the organisation’s executive committee.
Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
