Catering Manager Wanted – Salary: R9 000 – R12 000 Per Month

We currently have a permanent position for a Catering Manager position based in an upmarket retirement village in Pretoria East.
Role purpose and scope
Manages and assumes responsibility and accountability for resident care on the assigned unit. Manages the unit in accordance with policy and procedure and relevant regulations to promote high-quality care and service.
Responsibilities but not limited to
Cooking and preparation of meals;
Discuss catering arrangements;
Plan menu and communicate with staff;
Daily costing sheets to be completed;
Supervise the purchase, storage and issuing of stock;
Supervise the provision of all crockery, cutlery, detergents, kitchenware, etc.;
Adequate stock control and security;
Record keeping of payments, expenses, temperature logs, safety & hygiene documentation;
Plan, coordinate and supervise activities of staff in the dining room, kitchen and other areas;
Manage staff, training and time schedules;
Make sure that the dining room, kitchen, storage facilities and other work areas are kept clean;
Attend to complaints concerning food and service.
excellent communication skills
Matric certificate or relevant experience – focus on intermediate literacy and numerical abilities;
Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage management or similar qualification;
5 – 10 years of Catering Management experience;
Previous experience in all departments in a catering environment or equivalent;
Team Leader experience;
Strong people management skills;
Good knowledge of food safety & hygiene practices;
Good knowledge of stock and cost control;
Good knowledge of menu planning and dietetic requirements;
Good knowledge of roles and responsibilities within the unit.
High level of personal cleanliness;
Able to manage time and work under pressure;
Able to remain calm and in control in difficult situations;
Excellent communication and organizational skills;
Ability to make good decisions;
Strong personality and has the ability to enforce working standards and procedures;
A high degree of personal motivation with the ability to influence and motivate others;
Positive attitude to change and innovation;
Own transport essential.
Ability to work long hours, including public holidays and weekends;
Considerable pressure due to supervisory duties, workload, deadlines, time and budgetary constraints and impact of decisions made.
