An international Fast food business is seeking to employ a Development Manager to join their Johannesburg based team on a permanent basis. The overall purpose is to:

Plan, direct and coordinate the identification, acquisition, design, required approvals and construction of new stores for a specific brand
Participate in the market development plan, conceptualisation of new projects and the investment case. Plan, direct and coordinate the close or relocation of existing stores.
Requirements

Degree/Certificate/Diploma in Development/Project Management/Construction or other relevant qualifications
Operational and management experience in Development/Construction within the Fast food/QSR or Retail industries
At least 8 – 10 experience in a relevant field and position
Knowledge areas

Building and Construction, Engineering and technology, Design, Mathematics, Machine & Tool Mechanics, Economics and Accounting, Administration and Management, Customer Services & relevant Law and Industry governance.

Salary

R50k – R90k per month, based on experience & fully negotiable for the candidate with the right experience.

Responsibilities

Develop pre-feasibility expansion projects (market development plan)

Provide a framework for the market development plan.
Evaluate multiple alternatives for further development (new stores) and provide reasons for selected and discarded options.
Optimise the development process, technical and implementation processes and practices.
Produce optimal investment case as the main deliverable that falls within the acceptable risk profile.
Site acquisition

Direct and coordinate the activities to identify and assess sites for potential new stores.
Review quantitative and qualitative aspects of potential sites to determine if the meet the minimum criteria to progress to investment approval.
Direct and coordinate the negotiation with landlords/ brokers on the key lease terms of the potential site and assess the key terms against the minimum
Store Design

Plan, coordinate and direct all activities related to the adequate design of a store.
Liaise and coordinate third party service providers, brand operating teams and International Brand teams to ensure an appropriate store design is approved.
Develop investment case

Co-ordinate with the GIS data specialist to determine an accurate sales assumption for the site form the basis of the development investment case.
Provide an in-depth analysis of sites selected for store development.
Provide a detailed framework for project implementation.
Provide accurate design, cost and planning detail to ensure funding approval.
Constantly manage supplier relationships with suppliers and the cost of CAPEX items to ensure that appropriate ROI’s are achieved on proposed sites.
Develop new stores

Implement project in accordance with approved plan and budget.
Perform a successful project close-out commissioning.
Achieve a smooth hand over of a completed store to the brand operating teams.
Project management

Plan, schedule and coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines,
Prepare and submit regular budget estimates, progress reports and cost-tracking reports.
Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations.
Negotiations

Negotiate contracts with various stakeholders on behalf of the business.
