MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Matric/Std 10/ Grade 12/NQF Level 4

2. Must be a qualified/ trade-tested Diesel Mechanic with at least 3 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment

3. Valid certification to operate Payloader, Hyster, Bobcat would be advantageous

4. Computer skills (MS Office)

5. Knowledge of the plant and operations

6. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

7. Operational and technical knowledge

8. Good literacy and numeracy skills

9. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team

10. Proven ability to work proactively and without supervision as part of a team in a disciplined manner

11. The ability to take initiative

12. Time Management Skills

13. Knowledge of Company policies and procedures

14. Knowledge of health and safety

15. Ability and willingness to work shifts, and overtime as/when required.

16. Valid Driver’s license and own transport essential

17. Must be in excellent health and of sober habits – 24hr standby required

18. Must have previous experience in repairs and maintenance of Locomotives, Payloaders, Bobcats & Hysters

JOB OUTPUTS

1. Perform planned routine maintenance on machinery/equipment

2. Perform fault finding exercises on machinery/equipment

3. Repair machinery/equipment, ensuring that breakdowns are kept to a minimum

4. Maintain and secure work tools and ensure operational equipment is in a safe and satisfactory working order

5. Blast, paint and repair body of machinery/equipment as and when required

6. Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to

7. Ensure excellent Housekeeping of Diesel workshop

8. Compile daily checks/reports

9. Liaising with the Foreman to get proper instructions on tasks to be carried out

10. Daily preventative workshop maintenance and repairs
