A private healthcare group has a vacancy for a Hospital Engineering Manager at one of their hospital facilities, north of Johannesburg. The key function of the position is providing leadership and technical guidance to the hospital’s Engineering Department.

Key responsibilities:

Implement maintenance management and operation of plant and equipment
Ensure safe and effective execution in-line with legislation of infrastructure and construction projects at the hospital facility
Manage the OHS Act, Construction Regulations, SANS etc for the overall hospital facility
Reviewing and report key performance indicators for improvement
Prepare budgets and validate expenditures
Contract negotiations and address any project disputes
Drive input & initiatives to maximize efficiency of utilities such as, water, electricity and steam
Monitor, review and evaluate performance of the engineering quality system
Staff management (recruitment, retention, performance & development)
Report writing
Investigate and evaluate industry technology to motivate benefits
Candidate Requirements
Bachelors Degree OR National Diploma in either Mechanical or Electrical (Heavy Current) Engineering

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Operations or Engineering maintenance and projects OR

Certified engineer with GCC (factories)

Experience in the hospital or similar environment

Proven leadership and people management experience

Good knowledge of:

Contract negotiations and management

OHS Act regulation

Facilities and project management

Financial management

Engineering procurement practices

This position reports to: Hospital Manager
