An International Freight Forwarding and Clearing Agent, focusing exclusively on their expertise in the movement of air freight & ocean freight worldwide is looking for a Senior Entry Clerk.

MISSION
•This position is responsible for the accurate framing of a Customs & Excise bill of entry in accordance with the Customs & Excise Act, as amended, and management of all Customs & Excise related issues.
•Follows and anticipates changes involving international trade with a view to identify best solutions to assist customers and ensure competitiveness of their business.

ACTIVITIES & RELATED CORE COMPETENCIES MANAGEMENT OF CUSTOMS OPERATIONS
•Adapts and prioritises activities within team with a view to meet customer needs, taking into consideration internal and/or external constraints.
•Ensures customs operations are correctly attended to on a daily basis (tariff determinations, administrative appeals, refund claims, acquittals, bills of entries, custom queries and adjustments, application for permits,).
•Ensures stopped and detained consignments are immediately attended to, with customs examinations arranged as and when required.

CLASSIFICATION
•Regularly monitors revisions to the Customs Tariffs and other customs reference books.
•Ensure that all the items numbered on any supplier’s invoice is correctly classified.
•Checks documents supplied by customers for accuracy and sufficiency of details, and queries details with the customer when needed with the support of the relevant controller.
•Correctly tariffs the cargo using the relevant product codes, literature and input from the customer Calculate duties payable and where needs be informing the customer.

CUSTOMS FRAMING
•Ensures rebate entries are correctly submitted and follows the procedure for reporting of errors.
•Ensures that entries that could incur penalties of any kind are checked by a qualified member of the team.
•Keeps all relevant parties informed of issues that require resolving in order to obtain prompt release.

STATUTORY BODY DETENTIONS AND STOPS
•Timeously attends to detentions, stops, and examinations as and when required. Produces the required number of copies for manual submission of documents to Statutory bodies and prepares batches for presentation in line with Rules.
•Ensures that documents are returned to the relevant files upon receipt back from the Statutory Bodies.

MONITORING OF COSTS
•Estimates costs and Identifies cost-saving opportunities.
•Implements procedure for management of deferment accounts across the subsidiary and monitors compliance, taking necessary steps (training, report to management) in order to protect business interests.

COMPLIANCE WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY, QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS
•Applies and enforces Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental regulations. Adheres to and respects Operational and Management standards at all times. Takes responsibility for own safety, ensuring work is safe and hazard-free.
•Reports all accidents, near misses or hazardous situations to their superiors within 24 hours, however insignificant they may seem.

Candidate Requirements
Senior Experience in international Air and Sea Freight. Diploma/Degree relevant to industry.
