A well-known, reputable and established wealth management firm has a vacancy for a Certified Financial Planner. The ideal candidate will be an all-rounder, have 5+ years’ experience and experience in Employee Benefits would be advantageous. An existing client base is not required but would be a bonus.
The firm is an authorised Financial Service Provider and they help to empower and educate entrepreneurs, executives, professionals and retirees to achieve their individual financial needs and goals. They focus on establishing trusted long-term client relationships, while developing and reviewing uncomplicated but comprehensive, personalised financial plans, building confidence by using a sound financial framework to ensure financial independence.
Purpose of the Role:
To identify and source potential new clients and convert leads into ongoing retainer clients through the provision of professional financial planning advice. The focus of the role is to generate and develop new business by identifying potential clients through referral, networking and marketing channels.
Introducing and developing new financial planning business in line with set targets:
Generate new business in agreed target markets through various networking activities including managing relationships between the practice and referral sources
Identify opportunities for seminars, sponsorship and other promotional activities to leverage business generation activity
Provide High Quality Advice
Provide technically competent advice to key client segments – retirees, redundancy and wealth accumulators
Participates in at least the minimum hours of professional development training per annum by attending both internally and externally-provided sessions to ensure compliance with both legislative, industry and corporate guidelines
Maintaining high compliance standards that satisfy legislative requirements
Effectively manage the relationship between the client and the practice including the transfer of retainer clients to retainer advisors
Achieve agreed sales targets with respect to funds under management, retainer conversions and expenses
Contribute to the establishment of corporate sales targets on a bi-annual basis
Monitor competitor activities and proactively provide advice as appropriate to the Financial Planning team and practice as a whole
Problem Solving Ability:
To creatively identify and generate leads with a view to developing new business opportunities
To transform potential clients into retainer clients of the practice
This position reports to: The Head of Financial Planning
This position liaises with: Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Adviser Assistants, Client Services Division, other divisions of the practice, external alliance partners and external clients
This position provides supervision to: No formal supervisory responsibilities.
Fit and Proper status as defined by the FAIS Act
Tertiary qualified in a related discipline
Satisfies the admission requirements for CFP status
Minimum two years front line advice or business development experience
Previous experience in a financial planning environment
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
Sound technical advising knowledge to current legislative, industry and corporate standards
Self-motivated with regards to personal and professional improvement
High client service orientation
Ability to effectively influence and persuade others
High level of commercial acumen
Strong interpersonal skills
Sound problem solving ability
Highly focussed on corporate goals and objectives
Action orientated and takes initiative
As the business continues to develop and grow, there will be further opportunities to increase the size of client’s portfolios and funds under management.
Certified Financial Planner status
Tertiary Qualifications – Relevant tertiary qualification will be highly desirable.
5+ years’ experience.
R45k to R55k pm ctc basic, with possibility of commission/profit share.
