Sub Acute Hospital is seeking an experienced Hospital Chef.
The Chef is to prepare hot and cold foods according to the current menu for all patients dietary programs using standardized recipes. Prepares and set ups foods. Ensures food safety, quality and freshness. Prepares foods for special days/functions as directed. Ensures kitchen safety and security. Supports Hospital’s mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines.
Demonstrates competency in all skills required for the preparation of menu items according to DOH and Hospital department standards in the proper quantity to meet the demands of all patients including texture modified meal plans/diets.
Reviews the menu to assess for changes and necessary times for preparation.
Prepares all menu items in a timely manner to ensure that the delivery of meals is in accordance to policy.
Prepares appetizing and nutritious meals according to – hospital and patient standards and dietary requirements. Provides feedback to supervisor regarding menu acceptance by
patients Observes infection control and food safety procedures. Maintains compliance to regulatory standards/guidelines.
Assists with kitchen compliance to infection and control procedures
by providing verbal and/or written feedback to Supervisor when non-compliance
Documents food temperatures daily.
Ensures that foods are served within acceptable temperatures;
implements interventions as appropriate.
Completes job specific daily cleaning assignments.
Serves Directors, staff and patient meals in a professional
and courteous manner.
Performs other related duties and activities that may become
necessary as directed.
Ensures all new recipes are approved by the hospital Manager.
Evaluates menu acceptance and recommend changes as needed.
Oversees activities of kitchen staff, assigning tasks as
necessary in the absence as needed.
Assists with the inventory process.
Participates in department quality improvement program.
Proficiency in English, able to work early morning or late shifts.
Hospital chef experience between two
to three years.
Supervisory experience is essential.
