Duties and responsibilities:

Design and format printed study material in an aesthetically pleasing and easy to read arrangement.
Create user-friendly Microsoft Word templates.
Import text, tables and graphics into Microsoft Word.
Ensure drawings, table of contents, pictures and diagrams are correctly formatted on documents, checking layout for errors and making corrections.
Position pictures, diagrams and text on page layout.
Generate and create links.
Convert files for printing from websites or other sources.
Assist in overall appearance and user-friendliness of work published by the South Campus and ensure consistency in formatting and terminology.
Assist authors and CDD (Curriculum Design and Development) staff with MS Word, Excel, PDF or other applications, providing advice and training where needed.
Investigate and suggest software to enhance process of designing printed study material continuously.
Continuously report on project progress, including challenges.
Manage content and oversee the OER site of the department.

Inherent requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or a three (3) year Diploma on NQF level 7 with two (2) years’ experience within the field of layout editing, /or;
Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate on NQF level 4 with five (5) years’ experience within the field of layout editing.

Required competencies:
Accuracy and detail orientated.
Excellent computer skills.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of MS Word.
Basic knowledge of MS Excel.
Understanding of Word processing, data entry and spreadsheets.

Assumption of duties:
As soon as possible.

Salary:

The salary scale is available on request.
