As Legal Advisor, the responsibilities are extensive and varied, however you will primarily be required to attend to all Legal functions for the Properties Legal Department

The individual will be expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organisation’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives. The competencies which he/she would be expected to possess are problem solving and decision making abilities, integrity, assertiveness, flexibility, accuracy, accountability and the ability to cope with pressure.

Responsibilities:

The Legal Advisor’s functions and responsibilities of the company are varied and encompass amongst others the various functions and responsivities detailed herein under. The individual appointed will primarily focused on all the legal requirements of the company as more fully set out hereunder, but with an emphasis:

– Leasing Functions and Responsibilities; and

– Tender Functions and Responsibilities.

Key Functions:

• Drafting:

 Draft agreements, specifically property and development related, I.e;

o Lease Agreements;

o Offers / Property Letting Business Agreements;

o All other drafting obligations such will include but not be limited to Sale of Shares, Power of Attorneys, Addendums, Cession Agreements, Suretyships, Guarantees, Resolutions, etc as and when directed;

• Vetting:

 Provide suggested amendments to agreements generated by third parties, vet such agreements and ensure that best benefit and protection for the company is obtained:

o As per the above;

• Litigation matters:

• Leasing / Lease preparation and MDA process:

• Reporting:

 Prepare and/or facilitate the preparation where applicable, the following legal reporting documents:

o Collection Reports

o Litigation / Exco Legal Reports

o Tender Reports and feedback e-mails ;

o Transfers/Conveyancing Report;

o All other legal monitoring reports, as and when required;

o Lease Report;

o Condition Precedent Report;

o Offer Preparation Report;

o All other legal monitoring reports, as and when required.

• Debt Collection

• Research/opinions:

Research new developments in property law or legislation which impact on property law where necessary and as required;

 Research and prepare opinions and summaries of salient facts which require the interpretation of the law and/or legal skill.

• Conveyancing:

• Tenders:

• Secretarial:

Liaison with secretarial department for all secretarial changes which need to be effected in terms of shareholders, directors, shareholding etc, changes as a result of structure changes/newly signed agreements

• SpiceWorks:

• General Office Administration

• Due Diligence Administration

• Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Administration:

Required Skills:

legal advisory support : 3 to 4 years

Candidate Requirements

Non- negotiable Requirements:

• Admitted Attorney

• 3 years Post Qualification experience

• Property conyancing exposure – advantageous
