REQUIREMENTS:

Essential: higher education with proven computer literacy,
Desirable: Degree in Information and Technology (IT) or mathematics field
GCP training (advantageous)
Essential: Minimum 2 years of work experience in data entry/analysis
Essential: Computer Literacy word and all other basic office software and the use of online databases (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PHCIS, Redcap, Phremis)
Flexibility to work in a variety of environments, including clinic-based registries
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Time management and problem-solving skills, excellent organizational skills to independently manage work flow
Ability to work independently and show initiative and great attention to detail
Ability to communicate (written & spoken) in English and Xhosa required
South African citizenship or a valid work visa

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Ensure databases for each pilot are kept up-to-date and report any data quality issues to the Medical Research Assistant. This includes independently scheduling suitable times to enter data from the various registers and following up on missing data.
 Assist in data collection, data cleaning and data collation for on-going activities
 Assist with operational needs as necessary, particularly in support of MSF’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The medical data processing officer may be deployed to assist with activities, including health promotion and clinic data support.
 The medical data processing officer should be familiar with the activities of other teams and able to assist in tracking activities across different projects for reporting purposes.
 Liaise with the data systems and personnel in the community sites, clinics and hospitals where MSF has on-going activities
 Support in cleaning, and organizing data for monitoring and evaluation of on-going pilots, including MSF’s COVID-19 response activities.
 Check data for inconsistencies and resolve any problems, report any problems with data recording to the MSF Medical Research Assistant
 Keep track of all data collection and compilation tasks and report on progress
 Participate in regular data team meetings
 Handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity
 Flexibility in responding to new research opportunities as they arise
 Capacity and willingness to learn new software, research and M&E methods, and work routines quickly, under the mentorship of the epidemiologist
 Willingness to work in multiple clinics across Khayelitsha and cooperate closely with clinic clerical staff (PGWC or City of Cape Town employees)

 Participate through personal behaviour to bring a positive image of MSF
 Observe absolute discretion towards third parties outside the organisation with regard to private and confidential information concerning patients and more generally, activities
 Performs, when requested, any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organisation to function optimally
 Comply with all aspects of the Mission and Project Standard Operating Procedures manual.
 Ensures that all documentation is completed to standard and within agreed timeframes
