About the Role
As the Strategy & Planning lead (Uber Eats) for the Sub Saharan Africa region, you will have the unique opportunity to build and scale our food delivery platform in one of our key regions globally. You’ll work closely with the sub-regional and country Uber Eats General Managers in designing, prioritizing and implementing strategic projects across this fast-growing region. This role will be instrumental in help driving strategic decisions and execution that move our business forward.
We’re looking for someone who can set a vision, think strategically and solve problems both at marco-level as well as on a micro-level. You will also bring to the table strong emotional intelligence, maturity and humility and are able to collaborate across many functions and with a diverse operations teams based in various countries as well as with our international headquarters in Amsterdam.
What You’ll Do
Vision & Strategy: Work closely with the sub-regional and country GMs in designing, prioritizing and implementing strategic projects across the region. You will be responsible to own the projects you manage and to deliver on execution at its highest potential.
Communication: communicate and follow up clearly and consistently on priorities and act as a sounding board and consultant to the regional leadership as needed.
Program/Project Management: Be a multi-tasker, supporting the regional team and country teams across SSA. You’ll be the go-to person for many key initiatives, not just for Operations, but across key teams within the organization such as Finance, Marketing, Policy, Legal and Product.
Process improvement: Identify operational and structural weaknesses and help improve or innovate new processes to keep our local and regional teams as efficient as possible.
Build Relationships: Interface with other functional areas (Product, Business Development, Sales, People Operations, Legal, Finance etc.) to ensure we are bringing all available tools to manage our toughest problems.
Analytics while remaining pragmatic: you like deciphering huge data sets and cutting through irrelevant distractions to the heart of core data questions, yet always stay pragmatic by keeping in mind the local context and on-the-ground realities.
Lead by example: Always be truth-seeking with data, set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively, communicate frequently, consistently and with high quality; then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans.
What You’ll Need
A minimum of 6 years of experience in strategy and analytics ideally or investment banking, consulting, business development, entrepreneurial or related field. Experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is a big plus.
Strong communication and organization skills. You are a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight the key take aways, and disseminate actionable insights.
Strategic thinker and problem solver – The ability to structure your thinking, set a strategy and move forward towards actions and solutions in an organized way.
A driven approach- you focus on action, are a great collaborator and team player
Balance attention to detail with swift execution – we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength
Explorer – the ability to be a self starter, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role. Self-starter attitude is a must!

Exceptional Excel skills and Data-driven mindset (SQL experience a plus).
