1. What is the purpose of the role?

To assist the outsourced Finance Manager in providing financial support, guidance, information and advice to project managers and staff involved in the delivery of the organisation’s construction projects.

2. What contribution does the role make?

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of project accounting information (budget, actual, forecast) recorded in Buildertrend and/or Excel.

Contribute significantly to the sound financial management of projects by working as an active partner to project managers.

Maintain positive and productive relationships with key stakeholders, particularly project managers, vendors and clients.

3. What are the role accountabilities?

Technical Accountabilities:

1.Undertake financial and accounting activities for projects including journals, forecasting, budgeting and reporting. Assist the Project Manager in providing budgeting, cost centre manager

reporting, analysis/

2.Provide value-added financial services, analysis and support to project managers and Director

3.Contribute to the development of a culture of strong financial management throughout the project environment.

4.Interpret and apply financial policies, guidelines and procedures as required.

5.Be conversant with the principles of the project management life cycle and the financial implications throughout.

Project Managers – Provide technical accounting advice and support.

Project Support – Provide technical accounting advice and support.

External auditors – Provide documentation and walkthrough process.

Finance – Provide project management reports

· Timeliness – accurately complete multiple tasks and activities within required timeframes.

· Developing capability – mentor or coach project managers in the financial management framework

· Customer satisfaction – high level of project manager satisfaction with the support and advice provided.

7. Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

1.Demonstrated experience (1-3 years) in the business and financial operations, with

exposure to relevant management/project accounting. – Essential

2.Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate and timely financial information in support of management decision making. – Essential

3.Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information to people with a non-financial background. Sound communication skills, both verbal and written. – Essential

4.Proven ability to form and maintain effective and collaborative working relationship with stakeholders. – Essential

5.Strong computer skill – Essential

6.Advanced Excel Spreadsheet skills. – Desirable

7.Proficient in Xero. – Desirable

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: R20,000.00 to R25,000.00 /month

Project Accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
