Position Summary

The Settlements Administrator sits within Operations department and reports directly to the Settlements Manager. This role also works closely with the Corporate Actions & Events, Banking & Cash Settlements teams and Client Services.

This role is responsible for correct and effective settlement of all securities and non-cash settlements management and reduce risk of erroneous capturing and processing.

Candidate Requirements
Priorities and Accountabilities

Executes new trade instructions in the market for all mutual fund activity
Process all investments and redemptions into funds, fund of funds, etc.
Developing process for all new products, services and relationships
Adhere to JSE regulations, Companies Act, the FMA and STRATE rules
dentify areas of risk and ensure that proper controls are in place to eliminate / minimize risks and losses
Action and control all aspects relating to funds and non-cash settlements
nsure that a cost effective and efficient service is provided to all clients (internal/external) and that it is in line with clients Service Level Agreements/Special standing instructions
Daily resolution of any settlement exception or discrepancy
erifying accuracy of incoming documents and processing work using internal quality assurance processes
Maintain frequent interaction with depositories and counter parties to be able to respond effectively to problems with trade settlements to avoid fails
Assist in the resolution of problems associated with settlement activity and escalate issues/concerns to supervisor
ssist the team in the processing of settlements

Job-Related Skills & Education

Grade 12 or equivalent
Tertiary Education preferable
3+ years’ experience in banking or cash settlements related role
2+ years’ financial markets experience
Proficient in MS Office
Computer Literacy
Core Technical Skills

Ability to learn new systems/processes and to grasp instructions quickly
Must be proficient in gathering and analysing business requirements and data while applying Problem-solving techniques
Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel macro experience
