VACANCY: WAREHOUSE MANAGER

LOCATION: WESTMEAD, KWAZULU NATAL

DIRECT REPORTS: +35

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To manage receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures in compliance with company’s policies and vision. The incumbent of the role will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, value-adding servicing and dispatch of a wide variety of products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization
Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with a data storage system.
Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies
Plan work, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
Maintain warehouse staff performance results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Be involved in recruitment, selection, orientation, coach and motivation of employees
Daily, weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reporting
Receive feedback and monitor the quality of products as well as services provided
Perform other adhoc responsibilities as and when needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Matric / Grade 12 is essential
Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or equivalent is essential
3 years’ experience in planning, distribution, forecasting, logistics and other supply chain management related responsibilities
3 years’ proven work experience in a supervisory position
Proven work experience in warehouse management procedures and best practices
Proven work experience in the pet/FMCG industry
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office Packaged (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Excellent Communication Skills
Leadership skills and ability manage staff
Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
Logical reasoning
Numerical skills
Technical skills
